social welfare,Swaraj in politics and the understanding of the suffering of the poor in economic

field.Religion develops because of the mystic experience of each religion.He believes that he is all a
hindu,a muslim, a Christian,a parsee. 5

In Quran Saar Vinobaji has described the life of Prophet Muhammad ,his childhood,his higher
ethical character.He has mentioned the five allegiances and five pillars in Islam,the Prophet’s flight from

Mecca to Medina.He was of the opinion that one cannot stop the onslaught of science and technology.It
has come to stay.Science has to serve humanity and function with the underlying principle of spirituality

and develop good values for the society.All religions consist of ethical values and they apply to the
entire humanity as God is omnipresent.Quran Saar was well appreciated both in India and abroad by

the muslim community. 6

Conclusion
Needless to say that the book consists of quotations from the ‘Glorious Quran’. But their

arrangement, re-arrangement and editing have made the book a valuable contribution to the spiritual
aspect of humanity. The book has 1,065 verses distributed over the nine parts and in all his selections

one finds Adhyatma(spirituality) i.e. Revelation, Devotion, Morals, Devotee, object of his devotion
and the unique experiences of the devotee.

Vinobaji has made a very good attempt in promoting better understanding between Hindus
and Muslims. After Dara Shikoh, Maulana Azad was a great scholar of comparative religion who, in

his commentary of Quran, Tarjuman al Quran rendered great service to understanding correct message
of Islam and other religions including Hinduism. After Maulana Azad,Vinobaji from amongst Hindus,

has showed proper understanding of spirit of religions including Islam. Today unfortunately scholars of
any religion project religion with negativities to serve political ends .It is very important that Scholars

retrieve the original spirit of the religions and project the religious philosophy in true and proper light in
a conflict tone in country like India. Vinobaji has understood Islam in its own ground and has brought

out the true essence of Islam.
