May you live for hundred years, with advancement of physical, mental and spiritual power .
For individual and social upliftment, the Veda stresses upon the importance of mutual co-
operation of all human beings. Vinoba explains the Vedic concept of concord through his interpretation
of following Mantra:-
lekuks eU=% lfefr% lekuh
lekua eu% lg fpÙkes"kke~A (Rigveda X.191.3)
Common be the discussion, meetings and mental attitude (of people). Let them think and
discuss together. Vinoba has underlined the words ‘Sahachittam’ in the spirit of mutual respect for
24
opinion of each other .
Thus, we can see that Vinoba has approached the Veda in his unique way, and has explained
the purport of the Mantras in very lucid and easy-to-understand language. His vision of the Veda
focuses on the all-inclusive outlook of human life, and therefore, it becomes more relevant in the
present age wherein the humanity needs strong support from every quarter, for its unity, progress and
survival. In fact, Vinoba has made the Vedic enlightenment, easily graspable, and accessible for common
man for his own upliftment as well as to understand and play his role for welfare of others.
Acharya VinobaBhave, the exponent of the noble teachings of all faiths, and life-long dedicated
servant of the society, has studied the Vedic texts for decades, and, extracted the essence of the Vedas
– the illuminating teaching for upliftment of all i.e. Sarvodaya. His vision of the Veda really got reflected
in all his noble activities.
In his lectures on the Gita, he has clearly mentioned that the life itself is the Veda (manifested
25
as life) and all noble endeavours of human beings are themselves nothing but divine actions .
