                       C. This is full of illustrations that show that every religious tradition has created men of perfect
vision and the Bhagavad Geeta is presented with simple doses to heal each and every one – not only

the Hindus. In his Book Sthita Prajna Darshan, Vinoba Says that to reach the state of self – realization
described in the Bhagavad Geeta one does not require high intellectual powers or degree based

education. Intelligence may differ but what is essential here is sheer clean, flawless, innocent, and pure
intelligence. Even this can excel to reach Divinity. 1

                       Samya yoga
Vinoba has called his total vision as ‘Samya-Yoga’ and has summarized his philosophy in

Samya – Sootra. He took this name from Verse 6.33 of the Bhagvada Geeta after Shri Krishna
described his equal vision, in Verse 29,30,31,32 of chapter 6. This concept captured Vinoba’s attention

and then he proceeded to have his independent reflection on it. The first Sootra of Vinoba is Abhidheyam
Parama Samyam. The goal of human life is obtaining the Parama Samyam of Parameshwara, of

Brahma .Those persons who take up this thread of Samya, follow it with perpetual evolution ultimately
reach highest Samya, they become established in Brahma. To strive for Samay-Yoga on the body-

consciousness, intellectual, spiritual, and universal level will have to be merged by the repetition of
Mahavakyas. In our efforts towards conscious actions - Karmayoga, we have to remove blemishes

on the emotional level and add merits to our thought process, verbal habits, and behavioral patterns.
The Samya –Yoga comprises of seven fold equilibrium in human attitude –

                       A. To regard all ups and downs in life as equal and maintain one’s composure
                       B. To understand that our soul is actionless but our body needs action

                       C. Equilibrium of mind 2
                       D. Excellence at work due to diligence 3

                       E. Attempts at forming an egalitarian society
                       F. Permanent Bliss- Union of self and God, which is known as Realization - Advaita

From these, part E is part of social engineering in which Indian holy men- Rishis have worked

over three rites - Yajna , Dana, Tapas. Yajna is human action for bringing equilibrium in world’s
divinely beneficial natural elements and forces (Ecology). Dana is human action for bringing equilibrium

in human relationships through sharing every positive fate entrusted to us. Tapa is human action for
                                                                   4
bringing balanced growth in inward and outward faculties. This is India’s way of harmonious living. It
can be easily revived with the help of science in recognizing yore-men’s spiritual insights.
The methods prescribed in Indian guide-books are:

                       1. Repetitions of Mahavakyas for Jnani.
                       2. Repetition of God’s names for devotee.
